Just up from Brighton's Fiveways District on the

Ditchling Road is a large field area containing

4 schools:

Varndean School, Varndean College, Dorothy Stringer School

and Balfour School.

The location we concentrate on in this chapter is a Victorian stairway which runs up the hillside between Balfour Road and Osbourne Road in Brighton. The area is populated by Victorian houses dating from around 1860 and this hints at the age of the Alleyway and era of construction.

The Alleyway is hemmed in on both sides by private gardens and the gradual descent from Osbourne Road affords a good view across the valley overlooking the schools and view towards Preston Park Station.

As the stairway is quite a long one, it has been videoed rather than photographed. Stupidly, I completely forgot the names of the roads which the stairway runs between - stage fright, I think!
